Anne Akiko Meyers Appearing with Il Divo in Toronto December 11th

Rebecca Davis PR Presents Anne Akiko MeyersStar violinist to appear on Christmas Tour with the musical supergroup in Toronto, Atlantic City, Connecticut and Boston

New York, NY – The trail-blazing violinist Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the world's premiere concert artists, performing regularly in recital and with leading orchestras globally. On December 11th, she joins Il Divo, one of the world’s most popular musical groups as they appear in a series of intimate holiday concerts with 37-piece orchestra entitled Celebrate Christmas with Il Divo. The limited-run international tour launches in London on December 7th and lands in Toronto on the 11th. Emmy & Tony-winning soprano Kristin Chenoweth will also join Il Divo and Meyers on selected stops along the tour.

For the shows, Il Divo will perform songs in three languages from the group’s double platinum album The Christmas Collection and their recent album The Promise including stunning renditions of Silent Night, White Christmas and O Holy Night as well as inspirational favorites such as Amazing Grace and Ave Maria.

On each stop on the Il Divo tour, Anne Akiko Meyers will join the group for a performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and Panis Angelicus, the moving sacred meditation by César Franck. She will also perform Smile – from her hit album of the same name released in spring 2009 – along with the fiendishly virtuosic “Winter” section from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Jeff Tyzik’s arrangement of Autumn in New York by Vernon Duke. Both of these selections will also be featured on her next recording, The Seasons…Dreams – to be released on Koch in spring of 2010.

"I am totally thrilled to work with the wildly successful group, Il Divo,” says Anne Akiko Meyers. “Their range encompasses everything from Vivaldi to Christmas carols, and they reach audiences all over the world. This type of diversity is what I am all about."

Il Divo completes their largest worldwide tour to date, An Evening with Il Divo in November; the massive trek has brought them to 81 cities and 32 countries and was named one of the top 10 grossing tours of 2009 by U.S. trade magazine Pollstar. Il Divo, comprised of American tenor David Miller, popular French singer Sebastian Izambard, Swiss tenor Urs Buhler, and Spanish baritone Carlos Marin were initially brought together by pop impresario Simon Cowell in 2004, following an extensive worldwide audition process. The virtuoso blending of operatic technique with romantic and popular song took the world by storm, with sales of over 22 million.
