but only one will hold Le Spotlight!

LE SPOTLIGHTMontreal’s Musical Theatre Challenge

If you are a professional-track theatrical performer, 18 years or older, Le Spotlight is your chance to showcase your musical theatre talent in Montreal.

Le Spotlight, Montreal’s Musical Theatre Challenge is a yearly competition where ten finalists perform a sequence from the musical theatre repertoire, with an orchestra, in front of a live audience and panel of professional judges to earn the title of number one. Each season the winner is cast in a featured role in The Next Wave Festival of New Musicals.

The preliminary auditions for this year’s Le Spotlight competition will take place in early March, 2010. Ten top finalists will be selected, will be given an exclusive coaching session by a Montreal Musical Theatre professional and will perform at the Salle du Gesù in May.

To make the cut in Le Spotlight, you have to do a lot more than just sing well. You will have to impress the judges with a complete, multi-faceted performance. Points will be awarded for singing ability, dramatic interpretation, movement skills, diction, stage presence, appropriateness of song choice, personal style and suitability of dress.
The application deadline is February 26th.


All contestants are required to submit an application by traditional mail to CETM,
2205 Parthenais, #115, Montreal, Quebec, H2K 3T3.

Applications must be postmarked by February 26, 2010 and must include the following:

- head shot
- professional resume
- completed application form (available at or from
- $40 application fee payable to CETM Inc. (The application fee includes a complimentary ticket to the 2010 Le Spotlight performance.)
