“Strings At Sea” Portland Symphony Orchestra Kinderkonzert in February and March

Introducing young children to instrument families and musical concepts

PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Symphony Orchestra (PSO) beloved Kinderkonzert series presents “Strings at Sea” beginning February 10 and running through April 15. Attendees will set sail with Lobstering Laura and the PSO String Quintet as they take to the high seas for some water, waves, and wild adventures with musical favorites about the sea and its many living wonders.

Kinderkonzerts are entertaining, interactive programs with Portland Symphony musicians designed for kids ages 3 - 7 so they can sing, dance, wiggle, clap, and have fun listening and learning about music and instruments. School systems can coordinate the Kinderkonzert visit with Science and English Language Arts instruction in addition to Visual and Performing Arts. Specially prepared worksheets designed to support Maine’s Learning Results are available online or by contacting the PSO.

The PSO String Quartet, comprised of violin, viola, cello and double bass, will lead its audience on a journey to sea, demonstrating how the instruments evoke sounds of the ocean and its residents.

“Strings at Sea” will visit seven locations in Maine, for a total of eighteen concerts.

Sponsored by Time Warner Cable, all Portland Symphony Orchestra Kinderkonzert tickets are $4 per person. For additional information, reservations and ticketing information visit or call (207) 773-6128.
