La Scena Musicale May National Issue on Jazz, World and Folk Festivals

[Version française]
The Music Scene Winter 2010

La Scena Musicale shines the spotlight on jazz this month. Saxophonists André Leroux and Richard Underhill will grace our May 2010 covers (Leroux in the LSM cover and Underhill in the TMS cover); inside the issue, readers will find an indispensable guide to jazz festivals, plus our guide to Canadian world and folk music festivals. Over 160 festivals will be featured in our national issue which will double to 50,000 copies. We will also look at two productions: the Ensemble contemporaine de Montréal's Les Aventures de Madame Merveille and Opéra de Montréal's Cendrillonby Massenet. Interviews with Violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pianist and composer Stephan Moccio, and pianist Janina Fialkovska will also be featured.

The deadline for advertising for this issue is April 26 for La Scena Musicale (Quebec Edition) with artwork due on April 27. The deadline for The Music Scene (English Edition) is April 30 with artwork due on May 3rd.

LSM prides itself on its leading role in promoting festivals and, in addition to jazz, this month's festival guides will cover summer festivals of world and folk music. Keep an eye out for our summer classical festival guide in June. For more information on these guides, please consult:

NEW Endowment Fund:
Our application for the matching program, Placement Culture, has formally been accepted: for every dollar donated to LSM/TMS, the Québec government will contribute one dollar and fifty cents. Placement Culture is designed to create endowment funds for charitable arts groups like La Scene Musicale/The Music Scene. Our goal is to raise $100,000 until November 30, 2010, which combined with the government contribution, will create a $250,000 endowment. This will help us continue our magazines's excellence and innovation for years to come. We are therefore launching at this time our 2010 endowment fund campaign. Please join our fundraising committee or make a donation.

Please contact 514-948-2520 or info@lascena.org
