Summer HD Encores begin June 16 as Aida returns to the big screen

Highlights from recent seasons of the Met's Peabody Award-winning Live in HD series return to the big screen this summer as encore presentations. Verdi’s Aida kicks off the series of six operas on Wednesday, June 16 at 6:30 PM (local time), shown in the air conditioned comfort of more than 400 movie theaters across the United States. Select theaters will present a second showing on Thursday.

A cast of powerful voices brings to life the story of the enslaved Ethiopian princess in the Met’s grand production. Violeta Urmana stars in the title role, with Dolora Zajick as her rival, Amneris. Johan Botha plays Radamès, commander of the Egyptian army, and Daniele Gatti conducts.

Tickets for U.S. screens are on sale now. Visit
www.metopera.org/hdlive and use our national movie theater search or Independent Venues list for the most up-to-date information. For a general overview, view the static list of participating U.S. cinemas.
