THE BACON BROTHERS ADDED

TO THE ROYAL CONSERVATORY’S 2010.11 SEASON

LUKE MCMASTER ADDED TO BRANDI CARLILE CONCERT

Mervon Mehta, Executive Director, RCM Performing Arts, has announced two more additions to the already exciting and diverse 2010.11 Koerner Hall concert season.

The Bacon Brothers have been playing music together since long before Kevin (yes, that Kevin Bacon!) started his acting career and his brother, Michael, became an award-winning composer for the film industry. The brothers will bring their trademark rock-folk to The Royal Conservatory’s Koerner Hall on February 3, 2010. The concert, originally planned to open the 2010.11 season on September 17, had to be rescheduled due to Kevin Bacon’s casting in the upcoming X-Men movie that will be filming this fall.

In other updates, Canadian singer-songwriter Luke McMaster has just been added as an opening act for the American country-indie-folk singer Brandi Carlile on October 6, 2010, which will be the first concert of the 2010.11 season. McMaster, who participated in the Bluebird North events last season atThe Royal Conservatory, was one half of the Canadian gold-selling Sony/BMG-signed band, McMaster & James. He has since become a significant songwriter and producer, whose songs have become multi-platinum and gold sales for many of his collaborators such as Rihanna, Nick Lachey, Kyle Riabko, Bret Ryan, Rex Goudie, Kalan Porter, and Marc Jordan. Three of Mr. McMaster’s songs are featured in the new feature film Degrassi Goes Hollywood, including the hit title track Life is a Show and, most recently, his song For the First Time was featured on TV during the Olympic Games.

Founded in 1886, The Royal Conservatory is the largest and oldest independent arts educator in Canada. It is an internationally-renowned centre for performance and learning, providing opportunities for personal development through music and arts education in over 300 communities across Canada and a dozen countries around the world. Each year, more than 500,000 Canadians take part in RCM programs, exams, and public school initiatives.
