Canada Council for the Arts improves access to music programs

Ottawa, June 16, 2011 – The Canada Council for the Arts announced today changes to its music production and touring programs that contribute to the visibility of Canadian professional music artists in Canada and internationally. The improved programs give the public better access to music across Canada and foster awareness and appreciation of all music forms.

Production Grants in Music

This program is an expanded, more flexible version of the former Concert Production and Rehearsal Program. The program’s goal is to increase performance and recording opportunities for Canadian music artists as well as opportunities for Canadian music to be heard here and internationally.

Music Touring Grants

Music Touring Grants and International Touring Assistance in Music have been consolidated and the new program includes support for cross-border Canada/USA tours in addition to domestic and international tours.
