Chamberfest Idol: Ottawa Chamberfest Auditions for New Concert Hosts via Social Media

Ottawa Chamberfest will audition for dynamic, entertaining, and bilingual concert hosts for this summer’s international chamber music festival. Concert hosts entertain audiences for several minutes before the shows start. They make important festival announcements, acknowledge sponsors, and introduce performing artists.

The audition will take place between July 4 and July 15, 2011 on the Ottawa Chamberfest Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/ottawachamberfest) and Ottawa Chamberfest YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/OttawaChamberfest). It is open to the general public.

Five finalists will be selected by Ottawa Chamberfest Artistic Director Roman Borys to compete as concert series hosts during the July 23 to August 5 chamber music festival. One winner will become the official 2012 Ottawa Chamberfest concert host.

To audition, contestants must produce and submit a short audition video that introduces a fictitious chamber music act according to a predefined script. Videos will be screened by Ottawa Chamberfest for suitability and adherence to contest rules before they are uploaded to YouTube and publicized on Facebook. Ottawa Chamberfest’s Facebook fans will have an opportunity to vote on their favourites. Roman Borys will select finalists based on votes, talent, charisma, and other criteria. Finalists will be announced on Facebook July 18.
