Winnipeggers get their Symphony fix during the summer season!

Winnipeg, MB – June 8, 2011 – The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) wrapped up their regular season last month, but Winnipeggers will get their Symphony fix during the summer months. Nearly all of the performances of the summer season will be enjoyed for FREE, and will also include some new concerts (International Cello Festival of Canada) as well as annual concerts both in Winnipeg (Canada Day and The Lyric Theatre) and Kenora (Harbourfront).

International Cello Festival Gala Finale

Centennial Concert Hall
The Festival will finish with the WSO for a spectacular program that will offer rare performances including six cellists performing a variety of works with the WSO as well as a cello orchestra of 55 cellists performing Popper’s Requiem and Song of the Birds. This is an event not to be repeated in Winnipeg any time soon. Directed by Alexander Mickelthwate with host Eric Friesen.
