The Mooredale Youth Orchestra presents its first concert of the 2012-13 season, Sunday, November 25, 3-4:30 p.m. at the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts, 711 Bloor Street East (Castle Frank subway).

Over 100 young players, age 6-20, perform in the three orchestras, which are geared to different levels.

The Senior Orchestra, conducted by Dr. William Rowson, plays two orchestral favourites: the Suite: From Holberg`s Time by Grieg, and Samuel Barber’sAdagio for Strings.

Also under Dr. Rowson, the Junior Orchestra plays marches and dances by Schubert and Handel.

Clare Carberry conducts the Intermediate Orchestra in A Christmas Symphony by Giuseppe Valentini.

The Mooredale Youth Orchestra program gives serious young musicians a chance to prepare orchestral selections and perform them at a high standard under the guidance of prominent musicians.

As William Rowson states, “At Mooredale playing together as an orchestra is just the beginning. We cooperate, we experiment. Each week we try to reach beyond the notes to stimulate our curiosity, our creativity and our imaginations.”
