Mooredale Season Finale Presents Pierrot Moonstruck

MUSIC, MIME AND POETRY CELEBRATE PIERROT MOONSTRUCK
IN MOOREDALE CONCERTS’ SEASON FINALE APRIL 28

The sweetly sad Pierrot takes the spotlight when Mooredale Concerts concludes its 2012-13 season with Pierrot Moonstruck! An Evolution of Character through Song, Piano Music, Poetry and Mime.  The innovative and engaging production from Calgary comes to Toronto Sunday, April 28, 3:15 p.m. at Walter Hall, 80 Queen’s Park Crescent.

The Calgary Herald calls the performance “90 minutes of generally divine music-making.”  Soprano Allison Angelo (“A fabulous discovery” – Toronto Star), joins pianists Kathleen van Mourik and Charles Foreman to portray “An Evolution of Character in Four Parts,” through music by Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, Fauré and more.  Mime Olga Primak appears as the lovelorn Commedia dell’Arte character Pierrot, perennially in pursuit of his Columbine.  Poetry written about Pierrot is interwoven among the music throughout the concert, and performed by actor Larry Bent.

Tickets, $30, may be ordered online at www.mooredaleconcerts.com, or via 416-922-3714 ext. 103.   A special $20 ticket is available to concert-goers under 30.

Pierrot Moonstruck was conceived by pianist Kathleen van Mourik, founder and co-artistic director of Mountain View International Festival of Song and Calgary’s Mountain View Connection.  She and her husband, pianist Charles Foreman, have performed across Canada and have received Canada Council, Canadian Heritage, and Alberta Foundation for the Arts grants.  Their CD of French two-piano music, En blanc et noir, is available on the Arktos label.

MUSIC & TRUFFLES:  one-hour version of Pierrot Moonstruck will be performed for for young people 6-15 at Music & Truffles, Sunday, April 28, 1:15 p.m. at Walter Hall, 80 Queen’s Park Crescent.  Adults are also welcome.
