Toronto Summer Music Festival 2014 presents OLG Shuffle Concerts

Jazz, opera, and world music among the eclectic offerings at Toronto Summer Music Festival’s pay-what-you-can OLG SHUFFLE Concerts  
TORONTO…This year, Toronto Summer Music Festival’s popular pay-what-you-can OLG SHUFFLE Concerts feature virtuosi and next-generation emerging artists performing a wide range of musical offerings from Chinese pipa concerts to jazz and opera.  Inspired by the Shuffle function on an iPod, these informal, eclectic performances are held at 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays in Yorkville’s Heliconian Hall (35 Hazelton Avenue) during the 2014 Festival (July 22- August 12). 
2014 OLG SHUFFLE Concerts:
Wednesday, July 23                  Drew Jurecka Trio – Sizzling jazz performed by Drew Jurecka (violin), Mark Kieswetter (piano) and Clark Johnston (bass).
Thursday, July 24                  Carissa Klopoushak – The charismatic Canadian violinist performs a folk- inspired program with cimbalom player Alexandru Sura. 
Friday, July 25                  Marin Nasturica –Romania’s virtuoso accordionist performs an astonishing variety of musical styles from classical and gypsy to jazz.
Wednesday, July 30                  Lui Fang – Internationally acclaimed, award-winning pipa virtuoso has been playing the Chinese lute since she was 6.  Now residing in Montreal, the “Empress of Pipa” 
as she has been called, performs a wide-ranging repertoire of Chinese classical and folk traditions as well as contemporary works from both east and west. 
Thursday, July 31                  Nico Dann's Rhododendron – A modern jazz ensemble led by drummer Nico Dann.
Friday, August 1                  Carol Gimbel and Pemi Paull perform solo and duo works for viola ranging from acoustic to electronic.
Wednesday, August 6                  University of Toronto Jazz Combo featuring staff and students of the renowned jazz program at U of T.
Thursday, August 7                   The Bicycle Opera Project Part 1 – This Toronto-based opera company tours its small-scale contemporary opera productions exclusively by bicycle.

About the 2014 Toronto Summer Music Festival
