FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Montreal, August 7, 2014

La Scena Musicale (LSM) is excited to announce our 19th year of publishing for the 2014-15 season! Once again, LSM brings you seven issues filled with everything you want to know about classical music, jazz and the arts in Montreal, Quebec, and Canada.

This year, LSM will publish five bilingual issues (September, October, December-January,
February-March, and April-May) and two national separate language editions (November and June-July-August). Distribution will increase by 11% to 25,000 copies for bilingual editions and 50,000 copies for national editions. National editions will be distributed with 5,000 copies each in Ottawa/Gatineau, Quebec City and Toronto. The magazine will have more colour, with a minimum of 24 colour pages in bilingual editions. A new section devoted to the Montreal Cultural Metropolis will be launched this October.

In August, LSM publishes the annual bilingual Arts Resource Guide (including the Guide to
Performing and Visual Arts Venues and the Choir Guide) with a run of 25,000 copies. This handy little digest-format guide is your key to finding any and every business to cater to your musical and artistic needs, whether that’s an agent to represent you, a rehearsal or performance space, a choir to sing in, a teacher for private lessons, or a club of like-minded amateurs. Keep your Arts Resource Guide and refer to it all year long!

Our September issue features organist Jean-Willy Kunz, written by Caroline Rodgers, who returns to the team as co-editor. A new cultural season means a whole new lineup of concerts and events to explore, and our staff picks for la rentrée culturelle/Fall Preview will help you choose the events (classical music, jazz, dance, theatre, visual arts and film) you just can’t miss. Our second annual Guide to Fall Festivals will appear in this issue. The La SCENA Arts Xpress section will continue this year.

Rising stars will be featured in October with profiles of recent competition winners as well as our annual Competition Guide. Budding musicians won’t want to miss our Guides to Higher Music Education; the November issue will be distributed in schools across Canada.

All year long, you can look forward to LSM’s regular features, including our extensive concert listings, important news in the classical music and fine arts world, what’s new and exciting on the local and worldwide jazz scenes, and reviews of the latest and greatest classical CDs. Our guides to education, competitions, summer camps and festivals are sure to be of use whether you are a rising virtuoso or simply a devoted music lover.

Enjoy La Scena Musicale’s new season as you enjoy the new cultural season!
