The Orchestre Métropolitain wins two Opus awards: "Concert of the Year - Romantic, Post-romantic and Impressionist music" and "Concert of the Year - Montréal"
Montreal, Thursday, February 5, 2015 - The Orchestre Métropolitain is proud to have earned two Opus awards, one for "Concert of the Year - Romantic, Post-romantic and Impressionist Music" and one for "Concert of the Year - Montréal" for the Hélène Grimaud and Yannick Nézet-Séguin concert presented at the Maison symphonique de Montréal on June 12 and 13, 2014.
"I'm very touched, and my thoughts go to the Orchestre Métropolitain as well as Hélène Grimaud," said Nézet-Séguin, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. "It was an exceptional collaboration filled with emotions because it was a reunion of sorts following our first concert with the Vienna Philharmonic. These two concerts were truly magical moments. Hélène is an extraordinary artist who plays with tremendous intensity, and it is always a pleasure to work with her. A big thank you, of course, to the Orchestre Métropolitain and to ATMA Classique (bravo to Johanne Goyette for her Hommage award!), who, year after year, keeps making such memorable musical experiences possible. Thank you!"
The Orchestre Métropolitain was also nominated in the same two categories for the Marie-Nicole et Yannick concert presented at the Maison symphonique de Montréal on Novembre 29, 2013.
